An international Network supporting research on the role of sensory functioning — vision, hearing, olfaction, touch, taste, and balance — on health and aging.
Sensory decline is common in late life, with profound ramifications for the health of older adults. Funded by National Institute of Aging grant R61AG089063, the SENSE Network is building an infrastructure to support crosscutting, inter-institutional, and innovative research needed to catalyze sensory aging research — a field at the nexus of sensory health and gerontology. RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT & MENTORSHIP
This core oversees research and mentorship activities, including the consensus-building conference setting research priorities and pilot funding to address those priorities.
DATA COLLECTION, HARMONIZATION, AND INTEGRATION
This core organizes all activities related to the development of novel data and data collection resources. It serves as a hub for trainees and junior investigators to gain experience in primary sensory data collection —including protocol development— and data discoverability and harmonization.
